busy bee

with all the tourists coming in for the holidays, moving work offices and bundling up for the walk to the subway - the holidays are flying by! i wanted to send out a christmas card like i did in 2008 - my plan was for my friend to take lots of pictures at our Holiday party last Saturday - but he lost his camera. :( super sad. in other news - we did all take a LIMO to the party! it ended up only costing $15/ person - not bad at all! we wanted to be kevin mccallister in Home Alone 2 - have a pizza and limo waiting...

smiling juror

{preface: i've always been one of those people who smile inappropriately}

i reported to jury duty on nov 4th, was assigned a civil case that just wrapped up today. new york city jury duty is the melting pot of america thats for sure! and for some reason i couldn't help but smile when i entered the court room, when i left the courtroom, or whenever the judge was talking directly to us...

this is what i felt the courtroom looked like:

casual chic

i just took a style quiz on boutiques.com and they classified me as "casual chic", suggesting i wear drapey cardigans, neutrals, boyfriend blazers and stripes. ummm aka my whole closet. #sodumb

playing dress-up

last night, austin and I celebrated our one year anniversary! ;) I cannot believe it's been a year already, feels like its only been a few months. we were going to take the day off work and enjoy the city, but i was scheduled for jury duty. i received a lovely bouquet of flowers and we had glass of champagne before he took me out to dinner at One If By Land, Two If By Sea. the food was delicious! we were both stuffed. we washed down dinner with a few cocktails at my favorite neighborhood bar, Elsa. I loved dressing up and even tried this up-do that i will definitely be doing again...

bon appe-treat

one part of my job at bon appetit magazine is to brainstorm, create, and source client gifts. each sales rep is alloted a specific qty and takes them on sales calls when needed. this month we hired danny meyer's union sq events to create the halloween peanut butter and toffee candy bark from our october issue. they came in this morning - look how cute the packaging is!

going to make a batch tonight for my small group - and with my mom this weekend for Parker's first birthday party! ;)

fine, i'll do it

with much hesitation and resistance, i have decided to start a blog. the title sums up the reason - for my mom. i've lived in nyc for over two years now and i hate not being able to share things with her - events, moments, friends, clothes, images of the city i love... life. granted, this means i'll have to actually take pictures and make posts... but im actually looking forward to it. i used to scrapbook, yes - scrapbook - when i was in high school, so this will be my virtual scrapbook. not trying to be insightful or intuitive. just keeping my mom (and the rest of the family in Alabama!) up to date...here we go!
